If you thought countryside shows were all about jams, prize pigs and rusty tractors you obviously haven't been to the right shows. Country Agricultural Shows are a great way to meet local producers and independent businesses. Not only that visitors can see first hand some of the cattle and swine that their local farms breed. The Honley Show is an annual event in the village of Honley, West Yorkshire which is just outside Huddersfield.

And what a show it was!

Just eaten? What have you eaten? Cornflakes? Jam sandwich? Roast dinner?Where did you buy it from? A shop? A supermarket? A bloke in the pub? More importantly do you know where your food came from? Probably not. Yet everyday you probably eat things that have been flown half way round the world, shipped in windowless shiping crates or made in a factory in some far off corner of your country by low paid individuals for the benefit of some chap on a golf course

The milk you put on your cornflakes. Which dairy did it come from? Which herd? Can you ask the woman at the checkout? Would she know? How about the jam in that sandwich? Or the bread? Was it baked locally or made on a production line last month? Your roast dinner? Nice was it? What did the animal eat? Did you meet your meat?
